Explain (could be in step form) how to factor the following polynomials. (2) = squared1) 2x(2)+ 10x -242) 4x(2) + 20x + 253) x(2) - x – 124) 9x(2) - 81
To get this simplified first go through and write it out, but when it says 2x(2), you would do 2x times 2x beacause they are trying to tell you instead of leaving it as 2x(2) do 2x times 2x to make it easier and 2x times 2x= 4x(2). You would then leave the 10x and go onto 24(2). That would be 24 times 24=576. Then multiply 4x times 4x and that =16x(2). Then + 20x and then + that to 253. Multiply that to x(2) then - x and - 124. Multiply that to 9x(2) and that = 81x(2)-81.

Pretend you want to fit a perfectly shaped circular rug into your perfectly square room. All you know right now is that the radius of the rug is "r" feet long. 1) Find the area of the rug, 2) the area of the room and then 3) the area of the room that won't be covered by the rug. (hint -draw a picture!)
1.The area of the rug is 3.14rsquared
2.The area of the room is 4rsquared ♥
3.The area of the room that wont be covered is 14% of it.

new gas prices
The lowest gas price is $1.97. Now with the new gas prices, it would only cost me $25 dollars to fill my car up. The equation I used was 250 miles per week/22 mpgx$2.20= $25. It used to cost me 40 dollars but now it costs me 25 so i am now saving myself 15 dollars.
I learned from reading those article that for every one dollar decline in the price of oil saves the U.S consumers one billion dollars. Also, I learned that gas prices haven't dropped this much until the 1980's! 60% of the worlds gasoline is being used by people going to work. That is what I learned from that article.

Polynomials
Then, POST about something new you learned AND something that is now clearer for you. After you have posted, leave me a comment on this assignment so I know you are done! :)
I have learned what a binomial a trinomial a monomial and a polynomial was. A binomial is an equation with 2 terms. A trinomial is an equation with 3 term A polynomial is an equation with many terms and a monomials is an equation with 1 term. Something that is more clear to me is how you combines like terms and exponents. I learned when you are multiplying two polynomials with different exponents you add the to exponents to simplify it.

Back to school bargains.
I chose the article Back to School Bargains because I wanted to see how we can save money on school clothes. This kind of relates to me because in my family we have 4 kids and clothes can be expensive especially when it comes to winter clothing because of the coats, hats, gloves, boots, and warm clothing like jeans and sweatshirts. I learned that if the clothes at all the popular stores are way to expensive for you, you can go to platos closet or the child place. At platos closet you can get abrocrombie and american eagle and hollister for really cheap prices and at the child center you can get cheap clothes like gap and the childrens place clothes.

3rd assignment
This assignment is worth 15 points and will be due October 17, 2008. So, continuing on from Assignment #3, complete the following:1) Check out this article:http://www.bts.gov/publications/omnistats/volume_03_issue_04/html/entire.html2) Let's say you are an "average" American based on that article. How many total miles are spent driving to work in one week?) Now, if you are like a typical American, you are doing more driving than just to work and back. In an average week, I drive around 350 miles per week! Use this equation, 350/mpg x P = T (mpg = whatever your car's mpg is, P = local gas price, T = total cost) to find out how much you will spend on gas in one week. Bonus - could you write an equation to find out how much you spend on gas in one month? And finally, if you didn't originally chose a hybrid car, are you interested in one now??!! If so, check this out: http://www.hybridcars.com/ and let me know what you think! ...And kudos to ones who already did! :)
If I was an average american i would spend 105 miles driving to work in one week. I would spend 39.46 dollars in a week. My equation is 39.46x4=157 for a month. I do not want a hybrid car. I like mine.

car
If I had a choice to get any car I wanted, I would get the SSC ultimate aero. I would get this car because the doors flip open and it can go up to 257 miles per hour. The tank can hold 10 gallons. In this car you can get up to 22 miles per gallon. It costs 4 dollars per gallon. If this car gets all the way filled up it would cost around 40 dollars.
